Yes. You can bring it by anytime during our normal business hours- no appointment necessary. Provided there are no serious damages done to the instrument upon its return, the deposit will be refunded back to the card on file.

All rentals include an appropriate case and bow for violins and violas, or bag and bow for cello and bass. Rentals DO NOT include any other accessories, i.e rosin, shoulder rests, rock stops, sheet music, etc. Every instructor has a preference on what they would like their student to have. For this reason we do not include this items. Explore our Rent-to-Own options to find the right fit for you.

Instruments sold on consignment cannot be rented. The full cost of the instrument varies on the rental level selected. This price will be listed on your rental contract. We typically offer two rental price points (beginner and step-up) for violin, viola, cello and one for bass (beginner). Rental Rates Chart.

Rentals are billed on the first of each month and are charged to the debit/credit card on file. If the account falls delinquent, a late fee is charged. See our Terms and Conditions

  4. If the instrument is returned, it must be complete with all items covered by the contract. Missing parts and/or included accessories not returned with instruments must be paid for at the time of return. Returns are the responsibility of the renter.
  5. Financial responsibility for the above listed instrument and any applicable fees lie with the printed and signatured name on this contract. You will be our main contact concerning any issues that may arise with this contract.
  6. If the rental account becomes behind for any reason, the next attempt to bill the card number on file will include all past due, late charges, and current charges. A $5 per month late fee will be assessed on all accounts 7 days past due. After 30 days, a 1.5% monthly interest on the remaining balance is added plus the $5 per month late fee.
  7. Should you default on any two consecutive monthly payments or fail to answer any correspondence, Violin Shop Tampa, Inc. may assume that I do not wish to continue the contract and may take possession of the instrument wherever found; at school or elsewhere.
  8. All money paid as “Monthly Rent” will function as principal toward the purchase of the instrument.

  10. If the instrument is lost, stolen, destroyed, or for any reason ceases to be under the renter’s control, the terms of this agreement remain in effect. If for any reason it becomes necessary for Violin Shop Tampa, Inc. to seek a legal remedy to recover instruments or to employ the services of a collection service to recover any past due balances or recover any instruments, it is understood and agreed that the renter/purchaser is solely responsible for payment in full of any costs incurred by Violin Shop Tampa, Inc. in pursuit of said recovery.

    Maintenance and Replacement (M&R)

Maintenance and Replacement (M&R) is required on all instrument rental contracts upon the start of the rental and applies only to the instrument listed on the contract. The fee is included in the total monthly payment that is due on the 1st day of the month until the contract is paid in full or the instrument is returned. The deductibles for maintenance are $15 for Violin/Viola, $25 for Cello, and $50 for Bass. The “Maintenance” portion of the agreement includes repairs and adjustments necessary to keep the instrument in playing condition. Any damage to the instrument that requires repairs or adjustments must not have been caused by malicious intent or abuse. Any work performed in our workshop that is not covered by this agreement will be billed at our standard shop rates. If the agreement has been voided due to delinquency, the renter assumes all responsibility for damage or loss of the instrument. In the event that the repair cost exceeds the value of the rented instrument, Violin Shop Tampa, Inc. reserves the right to provide the renter an equivalent instrument in quality, price, and value in lieu of repairing said instrument. In this case, the M&R deductible would apply and the full deposit will be forfeited. This agreement becomes null and void when the above listed instrument contract is satisfied or paid in full or if the rental contract is delinquent by 30 or more days.

The M&R agreement does not include:

    • Strings, bows, and cases, which are subject to the discretion of Violin Shop Tampa, Inc. Deductions from the deposit will apply if replacements are deemed necessary upon return.
    • More than one bridge repair per year. If necessary, bridge repairs will be serviced at the cost of the deductible once per year. Following that initial repair, if further bridge repairs are necessary, the standard shop rate will apply.
    •  Parts that do not affect the playability of the instrument or cleaning. If an instrument is returned that requires deep cleaning and/or varnish retouching, the following fees will be deducted from any deposit return: $30 for Violin/Viola, $40 for Cello, and $50 for Bass.
    • Damage which does not affect the playing ability of the instrument or the condition of the finish.
