Maker: Mike Milan Trbovich
Story: Milan Trbovich (1912–1984) was an accomplished violinist and master luthier whose instruments reflect a blend of European training and American craftsmanship. He studied instrument making in Paris before moving to Belgrade in the 1930s to further refine his skills, later returning to the United States, where he worked in Chicago with the renowned Kagan & Gaines workshop and eventually settled in Los Angeles. Over his career, Trbovich crafted an estimated 100 violins, 30 violas, and 22 double basses, using both oil and spirit varnishes. Known for his meticulous attention to detail and expressive tonal results, his instruments are respected among advancing students, professional musicians, and collectors alike for their reliability, warmth, and refined craftsmanship.
