The Shen SB180 Hybrid is a beautifully crafted instrument designed for advancing students and serious players seeking depth, projection, and refined craftsmanship.
Built with a fully carved spruce top, this bass delivers clarity and responsiveness across all registers. The flamed European maple veneer back and ribs provide structural stability while adding striking visual character. Finished with a hand-applied oil varnish, the SB180 offers warmth in appearance and tone, allowing the wood to resonate freely.
With a 41.25" string length and 43 3/4" body length, the 3/4 size makes it a versatile choice for orchestral, jazz, and solo repertoire.
The maple D-neck is shaped for comfortable playability, paired with a smooth ebony fingerboard for durability and clean articulation. Premium details such as inlaid purfling, Suzhou individual tuning machines, and a dyed maple Hill-style tailpiece elevate both performance and aesthetic.
The bass includes a Shen composite endpin with 10mm rod and replaceable screw-on tip, offering reliable stability and adjustability.
