Story:  Milan Trbovich (1912–1984) was an accomplished violinist and master luthier whose instruments reflect a blend of European training and American craftsmanship. He studied instrument making in Paris before moving to Belgrade in the 1930s to further refine his skills, later returning to the United States, where he worked in Chicago with the renowned Kagan & Gaines workshop and eventually settled in Los Angeles. Over his career, Trbovich crafted an estimated 100 violins, 30 violas, and 22 double basses, using both oil and spirit varnishes. Known for his meticulous attention to detail and expressive tonal results, his instruments are respected among advancing students, professional musicians, and collectors alike for their reliability, warmth, and refined craftsmanship.

Tone and Character: This viola offers a smooth, velvety voice with a rich tonal core that immediately draws the ear. Its warmth is complemented by a confident presence, allowing the sound to project clearly without losing its refined character. The instrument responds quickly and reliably, with a forgiving nature under the bow that supports clean, effortless transitions and nuanced phrasing. Its tonal versatility allows it to blend seamlessly within an ensemble while still retaining the strength to emerge when needed. This balance of warmth, clarity, and responsiveness makes it an excellent choice for players seeking both cohesion in orchestral settings and the ability to stand out with intention and control.

Overview: Violins by Milan Trbovich are recognized for their refined craftsmanship and the thoughtful integration of European tradition with American precision. Each instrument is handcrafted from carefully selected tonewoods, featuring well-flamed maple backs, finely grained spruce tops, and a rich, transparent varnish that enhances both the visual character and acoustic response. Built to offer strong projection, warm resonance, and clarity across all registers, these violins perform confidently in a variety of musical settings. Their responsive playability and expansive tonal range make them a compelling choice for advancing and professional musicians seeking an instrument capable of supporting a wide breadth of artistic expression.
